It burns more gas than it should, it strains against ducts that can’t breathe, and it wears out years early — and none of that shows up until long after the truck leaves.
So we treat installation day like it decides everything. Because it does.

Why the right size matters more than the brochure. A furnace that’s too big blasts past the temperature you set and shuts off — over and over, and that’s what wears furnaces out. Too small never catches up on a cold night. And the furnace is only half the equation: the return air — the vents that pull air from your rooms back to the furnace — has to feed it. If it can’t, the best equipment on the market underperforms from day one. That’s why our estimate starts with a tape measure, not a catalog.
Where your gas dollars actually go. Every furnace has an efficiency rating called AFUE. It answers one question: out of every dollar of gas you burn, how many cents become heat in your house? The rest goes up the flue. An 80% furnace turns 80 cents of every gas dollar into heat. Our high-efficiency ultra-low-NOx models turn 95 or 97 cents into heat — and where the air rules allow a standard low-NOx furnace, Lennox makes one that hits 99.
